Product Description:

YJJ AD590JH Digital Temperature Measurement and Board-Mounted Temperature Sensor

Features:

AD590 is a 2-terminal IC temperature converter that produces an output current proportional to the absolute temperature. For supply voltages between 4V and 30V, the device acts as a high-impedance constant-current regulator through 1 μA /K. Laser fine-tuning of the chip thin film resistor was used to calibrate the device to 298.5μA output at 298.2 K (25°C).

The AD590 is intended for any temperature sensing application up to 150°C that currently uses conventional electrical temperature sensors. The inherent low cost of monolithic integrated circuits combined with the elimination of supporting circuits makes the AD590 an attractive alternative for many temperature measurement situations. The application of the AD590 eliminates the need for linearization circuits, precision voltage amplifiers, resistance measurement circuits and cold junction compensation.

In addition to temperature measurements, applications include temperature compensation or correction of discrete components, bias proportional to absolute temperature, flow rate measurements, fluid level detection, and wind speed measurements. The AD590 is in bare-sheet form and is suitable for mixing circuits and rapid temperature measurements in protected environments.

The AD590 is particularly useful in remote sensing applications. Due to its high impedance current output, the device is insensitive to voltage drops over long lines. Any well-insulated twisted pair is sufficient to operate hundreds of feet away from the receiving circuit. The output characteristics also make the AD590 amenable to multiplexing: the current can be switched through a CMOS multiplexer, or the supply voltage can be switched through a logic gate output.

Product highlights

The AD590 is a calibrated two-terminal temperature sensor that requires only one DC voltage source (4V to 30V). Expensive transmitters, filters, wire compensation and linearization circuits are not necessary in the application of this device.

State-of-the art laser fine-tuning at the chip level combined with extensive final testing ensures that the AD590 unit is easily interchangeable.

Superior interface suppression occurs because the output is current rather than voltage. In addition, the power requirements are low (1.5 mW at 5 V at 25°C). These features make the AD590 easy to use as a remote sensor.

High output impedance (> 10 mω) provides excellent power supply voltage drift suppression. For example, changing the power supply from 5 V to 10 V only results in a maximum current change of 1 μA, or an equivalent error of 1°C.

AD590 has electrical durability: it can withstand up to 44 V forward voltage and 20 V reverse voltage. Therefore, power irregularities or pin reversals will not damage the device
